Fightin' the Scale

Diet Day: 3
Workout Day: 4
Current Weight: 227.8
Short term goal: 200 lbs
Goal Weight: 145
lbs to goal: 82.8

Why in the world do I want to torture myself and step on the damn scale in the morning and the evening? It's like I don't trust the numbers that I'm seeing. I know that the first thing that they tell you when you start a diet is only to weigh yourself once a week and at the same time you did the previous week with roughly the same type of clothing that you weighed yourself in. So, why do I keep going towards the scale?

I am not sure other than the fact than I want to see progress. With 82+ lbs to lose, I know it's not going to be easy and it's not going to be fun and I probably already wish that it was over. Also, I don't see myself as 227 lbs. I see my high school self--at 144 lbs, thinking I looked cute in all my little outfits. Its not until I look in the mirror and see what I don't want to see that I alarm myself and realize that I don't look how I feel.

I think it's time to remove the scale from the bathroom, but I also don't want to. On one hand, seeing a number near 230 makes me want to stay on track. But when I get down to say, 220, then I feel like I should treat myself. It's a "Scale-22" and I feel myself being caught in it regularly. I want to keep up with my progress, but at the same time, I don't want to be discouraged by the number that pops up at me each morning. It's constantly an internal battle. In the name of good dieting practice, I may just go "hide" the scale in a place where I will only be tempted to take it out once a week...now, to find that spot....
